New theme, new plugins

General rambling No Comments »

As you can see, I have a totally unique and very cool theme up! All thanks go to Ibis - she took the best features from two different themes and spent several hours carefully coding them into a single new theme that really does have the best of both worlds. It’s called Black grass and I’m really very happy with it!

I’m also busy uploading some new plugins that I hope will make the site more interesting and accessible.

Please ignore the comments below - I have installed threaded comments and need to modify the CSS a bit to fit in with this theme, so they’re staying there until I’m done :)

On the road again…

With the move to octavo.za.net and the upgrade to wordpress 2.6 has come a renewed interest in my blog. I’m not promising anything, but you’ll probably see a few more posts from me in the days to come.

The upgrade process was not completely pain free - I lost all my categories and had to manually edit the database to reinsert them - I think I got them all right…

The current theme, while lovely may also change / be tweaked.

The content though will remain largely what you’ve come to expect from this blog — a mix of things, depending on what’s got my attention at the moment. Anything and everything from religion to gaming to books to code. It’s all good and it’s all me :)

So, you may have noticed some changes to the blog recently — I’ve upgraded to WordPress v2.2 which is great and I’m currently evaluating various plugins and themes, so don’t be too surprised if the look and feel changes quite a bit over the next week or two!

I still need to upload some of our Kruger park pics to the Dargo Gallery - I’ll try and get to that this week too, but don’t expect too much!! :)

I’ve also recently reinstalled Freelancer and Ibis and I are busy exploring Bretonia at the moment.

Yay

I had an excellent weekend again… :)

Ibis and I started out at the hairdresser who gave Ibis a thexy stunning new look and then we trawled the shoe shops near Tygervalley for some deals. We found quite a few and walked out with new boxes for the bunnies!

Zodan & I hooked up for some Stones pool action - it was good to relive some of the old times, although it was ridiculously hot. That evening we managed to cram in some awesome comet watching and I took my tripod and video camera along in the hopes of getting a few cool pics. I did get some, but they’re quite noisy, so I’ll post them later.

Blogging a dead horse?

So is blogging the next fad that’s fading? It seems to me that most of the hype generated by the initial rush of bloggers has died away and that blogging is going the way of podcasting. With the great unwashed masses slowly giving it up and leaving the dried out corpses of their failed blogs littering the Web 2.0 landscape.

Only the die-hard’s and the famous are still actively blogging it seems. So am I flogging a dead horse here? You my non-existent readers are welcome to comment :)
